1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Podreadat podreadme.com (the "Service") you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and the operator of Podread, established in Italy.
2. Description of the Service
Podread fetches publicly available captions from YouTube videos and rewrites them into two formats: a journalistic article and a timestamped synced reader. Outputs may be translated to other languages. Features and limits may change over time.
YouTube non-affiliation.Podread is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google LLC or any podcast publisher. "YouTube" is a trademark of Google LLC.
3. Eligibility
The Service is intended for users 16 years of age or older. If you are under 16, you may not use the Service or create an account. By accepting these Terms you confirm you have the legal capacity to enter into a contract.
4. Account and security
An account is required to generate new outputs. Authentication is handled by Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- violate applicable law or third-party rights;
- submit videos whose transcription or translation would infringe copyright, privacy or personality rights you do not hold;
- probe, scrape, rate-abuse or reverse-engineer the Service or attempt to circumvent quota and security controls;
- use the Service to generate or distribute content that is defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative of minors, or otherwise unlawful;
- resell or rebrand generated content as if it were your original work without attribution to the source video and creator;
- use the Service to build or train a competing AI model or transcript service;
- share, sell or transfer your account to anyone else.
6. Generated content and cache
Podread does not own the podcasts it processes. Generated articles and synced readers are derivative outputs based on publicly accessible YouTube captions. By default every generation is saved to a shared cache and accessible via a public URL so other readers can retrieve it without spending credits. You can change the visibility of any output you generated to unlisted (link-only, not indexed) or archived (hard-deleted within 30 days) from the reader.
7. Copyright complaints and takedown
If you are a rights-holder and believe a generated output infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to [email protected] including: (i) identification of the work claimed to be infringed; (ii) the URL of the Podread output; (iii) your contact information; (iv) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; and (v) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights-holder. We will review and remove infringing content without undue delay.
8. Subscriptions, billing and renewal
Free accounts receive a monthly allowance of new generations. Paid subscriptions (Pro) increase the allowance and are billed monthly by Stripe via Clerk Billing. Cache hits (reading an output someone else produced) are always free.
- Automatic renewal. Pro subscriptions renew automatically each month at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- How to cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.
- Price changes.We may change prices. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email or in-app before a price change takes effect for you. Continued use after the new price becomes effective for your subscription constitutes acceptance.
- Taxes. Prices are shown inclusive or exclusive of VAT as required by your jurisdiction at checkout.
For refunds and the EU 14-day right of withdrawal, see our Refund Policy.
9. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Automatic captioning and AI rewriting can produce inaccuracies; verify important content against the source. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that captions for any specific video will be available. We disclaim all implied warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer under applicable mandatory law that cannot be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Podread is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, loss of profits, loss of data or loss of goodwill arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any direct damages is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) EUR 50. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (e.g. gross negligence, willful misconduct, death or personal injury).
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the operator of Podread harmless against any third-party claim arising from (i) your breach of these Terms, (ii) your use of generated outputs in a way that infringes third-party rights, or (iii) content you submit through the Service.
12. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with reasonable notice where practicable, if (i) you materially breach these Terms or our Acceptable Use rules, (ii) we are required to do so by law, (iii) your use exposes the Service or other users to security or legal risk, or (iv) we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law) survive.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the homepage or by email and take effect 30 days after notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Italy have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, except that consumers domiciled in another EU member state may also bring actions in the competent courts of their habitual residence and may invoke the mandatory consumer-protection rules of that jurisdiction. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
15. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Podread regarding the Service.
